A blog by Kel…
I was very spoilt to spend my birthday at Mount Juliet Estate, just outside Kilkenny (where some of my Irish ancestors were born many moons ago). The Irish weather has continued to treat us and we had blue skies, sunshine and high temps of 28 degrees (high for Ireland, at least!).
We didn’t leave the Estate for 2 whole days. It was such a beautiful spot in the Irish countryside. Here’s how we spent our time…
- Strolling round the Estate, Bubbles at lunchtime, swimming in the pool, dinner at the Club House (the golf course was designed by Jack Nicklaus, MT had a lesson).
- Then on my birthday, I had a relaxing facial, we hired bikes and cycled round the Estate and found a shady spot by the river for a delicious picnic lunch.
- The girls went to archery and kids club in the evening so Mart and I had our first ‘date night’ of the trip at The Hound restaurant – very yummy indeed and more champagne, of course.
It was hard to leave this gorgeous place. Excellent service, generous Irish hospitality and stunning scenery. Certainly made up for the bell tent we slept in the night before!
Thanks for all the birthday love xxxx
